Whole Wheat Everything Bagel with Blueberry Cream Cheese from Ess-A-Bagel in New York, New York
First meal when we got to NYC. I wanted an original NY Bagel and found myself here. I love the amount of cream cheese they slabbed onto my bagel. I could only finish half of it and I felt so full. Their cream cheese was delicious!
Don’t ask me where the other half went.
My friend Mr. Toast says “hi” too.
Lamb Shank from The Stinking Rose in Hollywood,CA
The lamb shank looks like a horse’s head. Do you see it?
I didn’t enjoy this so much as I did for our appetizers. I don’t know if I was just too full or I really should have settled with beef instead. I like the place though, especially since I love garlic!
Smoked Salmon Scramble from Alcove Cafe in Los Angeles (Los Feliz/Silverlake), CA
Went to eat here for a nice Saturday brunch. The food is great, I just think that I could have went with my original choice of the breakfast quesadilla. Instead, I wanted to go with some fancy sounding omelette— an omelette with salmon! It turned out alright. Not great, not bad. I never have had salmon inside my omelette— and in my opinion, I don’t think I’ll ever have salmon in my omelette again. I felt somewhat healthy eating the salmon and the avocado though. They gave a generous portion of salmon inside that omelette.
I liked the atmosphere of this place and would come back here to have brunch again. The most interesting for me would be that they also barrage you with a bunch of questions when you order, like for example “what kind of bread do you want for your toast?”, “whole eggs or whites only?” and for my coffee “paper cup or a mug?”. In turn, I asked the guy if they treated their salmon well [Portlandia reference].
From their menu:
smoked salmon and caramelized onions scrambled with three eggs, topped with fresh goat cheese
